Compass 47 Yacht for Sale in Cape Town. She was launched unfinished in 2010 and the current owner spent the next 30 months finishing her off to the high standards you see here. Designed by Angelo Lavranos, the Compass 47 Yacht has mad many an owner happy weather cruising the world, racing in the Cape to Rio Race or simply enjoying the boat in their own home port and cruising local waters.

She is 98% complete in that soft furnishings need to be acquired by the new owner and in addition a choice of entertainment systems onboard. The current owner left these off for the new owners to choose what they want and not have to live with or replace his choices.

This Compass 47 is the centre cockpit version which is a spacious and relaxing yet functional area which houses the steering and control console. The cockpit seats are planked in teak and there is a full dodger affording protection on those unwanted upwind legs. The deck is uncluttered with open areas for relaxing when at your favourite anchorage, the raised gunwale is teak capped accentuating the timeless sheerline.

The Steering console houses the following:

  • Raymarine Autopilot Display

There is loads of storage space in the lazerette which is accessed via a deck mounted hatch near the transom. There is a sealed lock in the lazerette for the gas bottle.

The mast is deck stepped and the sails are by North and consist of a Mainsail in a stack on the boom, a 150% Roller Furler Genoa with a Storm Jib.

Below decks the interior is of a high standard and all joinery is finished in American Cherry Wood with some items in Burmese Teak (the companionway steps).

The forward cabin is a V-Berth with an en-suite 12V heads and shower and ample locker storage. The large foredeck deck hatch affords both light and access if needs be.

Throughout the boat the deckhead has been finished off with curved panels and all the interior hatch mouldings are finished in varnished teak.

The spacious aft owners cabin with a double bed, seating a dressing area, also has an en-suite heads with the 12V toilet and shower, again, with loads of storage space. A large deck hatch allows for access and ventilation.

Moving forward out of the aft cabin, the layout is as follows: Galley to Port, Nav Station to Starboard with a pilot berth cabin astern of the Nav Station. The Saloon is open plan with the Galley and Nav Station situated aft. Again, to reiterate, the soft furnishings are for the new owner to decide on.

The Galley is spacious and boasts lots of work top surfaces. There is a 2 Burner Gas Oven/Cooker and a Fridge serviced by a Danfoss DB3 compressor system. Hot and cold pressurised water serves the round stainless steel sink through the mixer.

The Nav Station is well equipped with the following:

  • Raymarine C80 Radar and Chart Plotter
  • Icom M802 HF SSB Radio
  • Standard Horizon VHF with DSC
  • Standard Horizon Hand held VHF with DSC and GPS
  • Navtex
  • Nasa Battery Usage Monitor

The Yacht is equipped with a MASE 2.5IS Generator, fitted under the bunk in the pilot cabin. In addition there are two 40 amp Sterling Battery Chargers and a 3.5kW shore power isolation transformer. There is also a 1500 Watt inverter. LED Lighting throughout. 400 Amp hr house batteries with separate engine and generator starter batteries. The Yachts engine is a Perkins ADE 4.236 which is a 78HP motor and is easily accessible via a removable panel behind the companionway steps, and also by removable doors in the galley and pilot berth. Fuel tank capacity is 330 litres with 550 litres of fresh water.
